Pfizer and Novo Nordisk are developing new hand-held INHALERSthat deliver insulin to the lungs.

One method is to use pressure to force the insulin throughhundreds of tiny holes causing the insulin to aerosolize. Inhaledinsulin is rapidly absorbed from the lungs and has a quick onset.

Researchers hope it will replace injections of regularinsulin or Humalog...patients will still need to inject their long-acting insulin.
