There's a new injectable iron called Venofer.

Venofer contains iron sucrose. It's an alternative to iron gluconate (Ferrlecit) or iron dextran (Infed, Dexferrum).

Venofer and Ferrlecit are approved only for anemia in dialysis patients...but they will be used in other patients who need parenteral iron.
