new pediatric immunization schedule
There are several new changes in the CDC's new pediatric immunization schedule for the year 2000.
Rotavirus vaccine has been dropped due to the possible link to intussusception...but assure parents their child is no longer at risk if they received the vaccine before July 1999.
Injectable polio vaccine (IPV) is now recommended for ALL FOUR doses. Use oral polio vaccine (OPV) only during polio outbreaks...in unvaccinated children traveling within 4 weeks to endemic areas...or if parents refuse IPV.
