Rocephin is now officially approved for acute otitis media

Rocephin is now officially approved for acute otitis media. It's the first SINGLE-DOSE antibiotic approved for this use.

A single IM injection of Rocephin (ceftriaxone) works about as well as 10 days of oral amoxicillin...TMP/SMX (Septra, etc)...or cefaclor (Ceclor). But it's LESS effective than Augmentin.

Side effects are also similar...usually diarrhea and rash.
