Accolate (zafirlukast) MIGHT cause liver dysfunction

Zeneca is now cautioning that their new asthma drug Accolate (zafirlukast) MIGHT cause liver dysfunction.

The other leukotriene inhibitor, Zyflo (zileuton) has strong warnings about liver toxicity. Patients starting Zyflo should get regular liver function tests...at least seven in the first year.

You don't have to get liver function tests with Accolate...unless the patient develops suspicious symptoms.
