A new sulfonylurea called Amaryl (AM-a-ril, glimepiride) will soon hit the market. It's from Hoechst Marion Roussel...the same folks who market DiaBeta (glyburide).
Amaryl works as well as glyburide.
The company will claim that Amaryl causes less hypoglycemia. But the jury is still out on whether this is significant.
