Taxotere (docetaxel) is being launched for advanced breast cancer
Taxotere (docetaxel) is being launched for advanced breast cancer...by Rhone-Poulenc Rorer.
Taxotere is similar to Taxol (paclitaxel)...it works as well as Taxol for anthracycline-resistant breast cancer. But it causes severe neutropenia, hypersensitivity reactions, and fluid retention.
Watch for significant drug interactions in patients on Taxotere. It's metabolized by the same cytochrome P450 liver enzyme (CYP3A4) as terfenadine (Seldane), ketoconazole, erythromycin.
