new Alzheimer's drug, Aricept (donepezil)
The new Alzheimer's drug, Aricept (donepezil), will be available in a few weeks...from Pfizer.
Aricept is similar to the older Alzheimer's drug, Cognex (tacrine)...but there are some important differences.
Both drugs are cholinesterase inhibitors. They inhibit the breakdown of acetylcholine...so more of the neurotransmitter is available for memory and learning.
