There's some confusion about whether patients with peanut allergy can use ipratropium (Atrovent, etc) inhalers.
Atrovent CFC inhalers were contraindicated in patients allergic to peanuts because they contained soy lecithin.
Soy lecithin can contain small amounts of soy protein, which can cause a reaction in a small number of people allergic to peanuts.
