heparin recall rekindles concern over the safety of drugs and products made overseas
The recent heparin recall rekindles concern over the safety of drugs and products made overseas...especially in China.
Melamine was added to pet food to fake higher protein levels...diethylene glycol was used instead of glycerin in some cough syrups...now "oversulfated" chondroitin has been found in heparin.
Yes, this is an altered form of the same chondroitin that's used with glucosamine for arthritis...but the chondroitin is sulfated to turn it into a blood thinner. This oversulfated version is cheaper to make than heparin.
