Should patients with hypothyroidism be treated with both levothyroxine (Synthroid, etc) AND liothyronine (Cytomel)?
Some patients claim that they feel better on the combo... but most studies show no benefit. This is somewhat puzzling.
Giving just levothyroxine is usually sufficient because levothyroxine (T4) is converted to the active hormone, T3.
