Actonel (risedronate) is now approved for osteoporosis.

Actonel is a bisphosphonate...similar to Fosamax (alendronate). But until now, Actonel was approved only for Paget's disease.

The new indication is to prevent or treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women...or in patients taking glucocorticoids.
