Lovenox (enoxaparin) is the first low-molecular-weight heparin approved to TREAT deep vein thrombosis (DVT)...it used to be approved only for PREVENTION.

The new indication is for treatment of acute DVT with or without pulmonary embolism (PE) in INPATIENTS...and treatment of DVT without PE in OUTPATIENTS.

Lovenox works as well as IV heparin to treat DVT...but it's easier to administer and requires less lab monitoring.
