It's an antimuscarinic like Ditropan (oxybutynin)...to inhibitbladder contractions and delay the desire to void.

Detrol seems to be as effective as Ditropan...but it's lesslikely to cause dry mouth. About 40% of patients on Detrol get drymouth...vs 80% of patients on Ditropan.
