Consider Intranasal Midazolam Over Rectal Diazepam for Acute Seizures

The new intranasal midazolam (Nayzilam, NAY-zil-am) will raise questions about treating acute seizures when IV and IM aren't an option.

Nayzilam is a ready-to-use nasal spray...and is easier to give than rectal diazepam (Diastat AcuDial).

But keep in mind that generic injectable midazolam can also be given intranasally by spraying it with a mucosal atomizer device.
