Take Precautions if Push-Dose Pressors Are Used at Your Hospital

Some hospitals will use short-term, peripheral "push-dose" vasopressors for symptomatic hypotension.

Infusions of norepinephrine or other pressors are standard.

Now some ICUs and emergency departments are adopting a practice used by anesthesiologists in the operating room...treating hypotension with peripheral IV push doses of phenylephrine, ephedrine, or epinephrine.
