Consider a Fixed Dose of Rasburicase for Tumor Lysis Syndrome

We're getting questions about rasburicase (Elitek) and other treatments for tumor lysis syndrome (TLS)...a common oncological emergency.

When dying cancer cells spill their contents, it can cause high levels of potassium, phosphorus, and uric acid...plus low calcium.

Consider patients to have active TLS when at least two of these lab abnormalities are present just before or after cancer treatment.
