Use Protocols to Reduce "Never Events"

You'll see more focus on decreasing "never events"...especially in the summer and on weekends.

"Never events" are preventable errors that should never happen in the hospital...deaths or serious injury due to med errors or contaminated medications, wrong-site surgeries, development of stage 3 or 4 pressure ulcers, etc.

These are a big deal for patients and hospitals.
