The "nuisance bleeding" with clopidogrel (Plavix), aspirin, or the combo is not "clinically" important. But it sure is important when it scares patients into stopping their meds.

Reassure patients that it does NOT mean they're getting too much drug when they bruise easily...have minor bleeding from small cuts while shaving...or their gums bleed when they brush their teeth.

In fact, explain that the bruises and superficial bleeding show that their antiplatelet drugs are working.
