Benicar (olmesartan) works better than other antihypertensives for blood pressure.

Some reps for Benicar claim that it's superior to Diovan, Avapro, Cozaar, and Norvasc for lowering blood pressure.

At first glance, this appears to be true. Several studies show patients taking Benicar are more likely to achieve blood pressure goals than did patients taking these other antihypertensives.

But in most cases, the patients in the studies received only the starting doses of these drugs...not the maximum doses. It's possible that the other antihypertensives only appeared less effective because doses used were too low.
