The confusion probably stems from the new label changes for Zocor. Merck has included more information about the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis related to Zocor.

Some drug reps representing OTHER statins seem to have taken this as an opportunity to claim that their statin is safer than Zocor...since their statin does not have similar warnings.

But don't be misled.
