Reps will soon be promoting Benicar (olmesartan), a new angiotensin receptor blocker for hypertension.

It will be the seventh one on the market...after Cozaar (losartan), Diovan (valsartan), Avapro (irbesartan), Atacand (candesartan), Micardis (telmisartan), and Teveten (eprosartan).

Benicar has a long half-life...but don't get too excited. It's pretty much a "me-too."
