Merck and SmithKline Beecham are introducing preservative-free versions of their pediatric hepatitis B vaccines (Recombivax HB and Engerix-B).

They are for infants under 6 months...to reduce their exposure to mercury from the preservative thimerosal.

Initially these new vaccines will be in limited supply. Use them for newborns first...then infants up to 6 months.
