SmithKline Beecham will soon be promoting Denavir (penciclovir) cream for herpes cold sores or fever blisters.

This is the first antiviral that's approved for cold sores...even though acyclovir is often used for this.

Denavir will be available around the end of the year by Rx...possibly moved to OTC in the future.
